According to Thy Word: A Journey Through Psalm 119
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, and nearly every verse mentions the Word of God. It provides a spiritual roadmap for the student and the speaker alike.
Cleansing (v. 9): We stay pure by taking heed according to the Word. It is the spiritual "wash" that keeps our hearts clean.
Quickening (vv. 25, 107, 154): When we feel spiritually dead or discouraged, the Word breathes life back into us.
Strengthening (v. 28): When our souls melt for heaviness, the Word of God builds our spiritual muscles.
Saving (v. 41): It is through the Word that we understand and lay hold of God's salvation.
Mercy (v. 58): We find the favor of God as we seek Him according to His promise.
Comforting (v. 76): In our affliction, the Word is a blanket of peace.
Understanding (v. 169): The Word gives light to the simple, helping us make sense of a confusing world.
Delivering (v. 170): Finally, the Word is our rescue. God delivers us according to His promise.
Are you living your life "according to Thy Word," or according to your own wisdom?
