Better Together: The Unity of the Body
The book of Ephesians uses the word "together" to describe the radical new reality of the Church. We are no longer isolated individuals; we are a spiritual community.
We are Quickened together (2:5), meaning we were all dead, and we all received life at the same time through the same Spirit. We are Raised together and Seated together (2:6), sharing in the victory of Christ.
In the local church, we are Framed together (2:21) like the beams of a great temple, and Builded together (2:22) for a habitation of God. We are Joined together (4:16) as a body where every joint supplies what the other needs.
Finally, the goal of history is that all things are Gathered together in Christ (1:10). We are designed for connection. You cannot grow alone.
