Things to Come: The Great Restoration
The Bible is a book of hope because it looks forward to a grand restoration. Paul and Peter and the writers of the New Testament all pointed toward a future where God sets all things right.
The Regeneration of all things (Matthew 19:28): There is a "new birth" coming for the world itself, where the throne of Christ is established in its fullness.
The Redemption of all things (Ephesians 1:14): We have the down payment of the Spirit, but we wait for the full redemption of the "purchased possession."
The Restitution of all things (Acts 3:21): Heaven must receive Christ until the time of restitution—the time when all that was broken in Eden is fixed.
The Reconciliation of all things (Colossians 1:20): Through the blood of the cross, God is reconciling the entire created order to Himself.
The Restoration of all things (Ephesians 1:10): In the dispensation of the fullness of times, He will gather together in one all things in Christ.
This is the "Blessed Hope." We aren't just waiting for the end; we are waiting for the Beginning.
