Who is a Christian?
In the Bible, a Christian is a person who has a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship begins with a genuine belief that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world (John 3:16).
Recognizing their own shortcomings and need for forgiveness, a Christian repents of their sins and is baptized (Acts 2:38). Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward transformation, a public declaration of faith in Jesus and a commitment to follow Him.
Following Jesus' teachings isn't about blindly adhering to a set of rules. It's about embracing a new way of life, one that is characterized by love, compassion, forgiveness, and service to others (Matthew 22:37-40). This transformation isn't always easy, but it's a journey that a Christian is committed to, trusting in God's grace and power to help them along the way (Philippians 4:13).
In short, being a Christian begins with knowing Jesus as the Son of God (John 17:3). It continues by allowing Him to transform your life through repentance and baptism (Romans 6:4). Ultimately, it culminates in following His teachings and example, striving to live a life that reflects His love and grace (1 Peter 2:21)
